The idea is simple. Let’s teach each other about each other. About our health and wellbeing. And about our illnesses. Furthermore, let's dispense this knowledge to our surroundings. Because an illness changes with perception, and this perception can make all the difference in the way we live.

Love Life

Steve Fugate lost his son to suicide and his daughter to a drug overdose.  In an effort to cope with the pain and spread awareness, he has walked across the United States carrying a sign that reads, “Love Life”.  As he explains how he is driven to prevent others from suffering like his son, he makes a very good point about those struggling with mental illness.  He mentions how those dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts are often not selfish, but sensitive.  He says “and the irony of it is, that they are the very individuals we need.  Society needs those sensitive ones.”  Fugate goes on to explain that those suffering from mental illness could use their experiences to help others that are going through similar situations.  Even by sharing their story, people with depression can help others realize they are not alone in their fight.
